FallBall

This year we had a FallBall program at Martin Middle School. It consisted of a month of before and after-school engagement focused on new 6th graders but open to older students as well. We used soft-lacrosse equipment to introduce the sport to entering middle school students.

The before-school effort consisted of short 30-40 minute sessions, 4 days a week held in the gym. We taught basic skills and finished each day with short 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 half-court scrimmages.

after-school

The after-school program consisted of longer 2 hours sessions, 2 days a week. We structured this more like a practice with warm-ups, drills and finishing with scrimmages. We used a mixture of soft-lacrosse and regulation equipment as appropriate for the setting.

We finished our fall efforts with outreach in 6th grade Physical Education classes during the regular school day. Each class, boys and girls, spent two periods learning about and playing soft-lacrosse. PE instructors then finished the semester with soft-lacrosse as part of their curriculum.
