The 2016 CAPLAX Championship Tournament scheduled for May14 was canceled due to lighting and severe weather. In the face of a heavy thunderstorm, The Lady Eagles boarded a bus for the Town and County Optimist Fields with hopes of facing Southwest Austin for the third time this season. The first meeting was early in the season and we lost by five. Last week we fought back from a sizable first-half deficit to within two. We were ready for one more chance at the 4th ranked Southwest Austin team.

Upon hearing the bad news given to them by League President, Michael Murphy, our group of 8th graders established the tone – disappointed but not allowing it to define them and their efforts. Mr Murphy’s remarks with regard to the progress made by this team were very complementary, and true. On the way home, the captains tended to the younger players while orchestrating a moving banquet from the tournament larder provided by parents and stored at the back of the bus. There was a lot of laughter and camaraderie. The leadership and the poise of this group of senior girls is matched only by their teamwork. It is this teamwork that allowed them to surpass many expectations for the first-time-ever Lady Eagles Lacrosse team.

The future is bright for our graduating 8th graders and the rising 7th graders.

Go Lady Eagles!
