New Horizons depends heavily on volunteer support. If you are interested in supporting our mission, please take a look at the general descriptions for areas that could use your help and involvement.

New opportunities for Volunteer coaches and an Assistant Administrative position.

Spanish Language Translation: We are getting more response from our target community when we can provide forms and communications in Spanish. This could be a low-time commitment area that could have a huge positive impact on reaching and including Spanish speaking family members.

Boys Youth Coaches: New Horizons strives to pay head coaches. We also realize that there are members of our lacrosse community that would be glad to volunteer for a less intensive role in assisting at practices and games.

Girls Youth Coaches: New Horizons strives to pay head coaches. We also realize that there are members of our lacrosse community that would be glad to volunteer for a less intensive role in assisting at practices and games.

P.E. Guest Instructor (Title I schools): New Horizons volunteers in 5th and 6th grade PE classes. The emphasis is on participation and familiarity with lacrosse through co-educational, “soft-lacrosse” in the PE setting. Three-session curricula has been developed for use.

Grant Writing / Fundraising:  New Horizons has been funded locally predominantly from within the lacrosse community. We have been the recipient of national equipment grants through US Lacrosse. We seek to expand our funding sources to regional organizations and to continue grant-writing as well as development of our community support.

Volunteer Coordination: Several local organizations have approached New Horizons with the hope of supporting us with volunteers. Both youth and adult volunteers could be a resource with proper coordination and planning.

Book-keeping/ 501C3 Certification: New Horizons is currently a Fiscal Sponsorship Fund as part of the Austin Community Foundation. We qualify as 501 (3) c under their supervision. We do not keep a set of fiscal records. It would be helpful to developing our own certification as well as creating reports for grants to have in-house accounting.

Equipment Loan Program: New Horizons has a large inventory of sports equipment. Some of that equipment is utilized by qualified programs and organizations through the Equipment Loan Program. This involves creating inventories, tracking equipment as well as providing an issuance process and general maintenance.
