Three camping sessions were offered this summer by the Discover El Ranchito effort. This year lacrosse was featured. The New Horizons Equipment Loaner Program provided the soft-lacrosse equipment that campers used.

El Ranchito Nature Discovery Camp serves  students from 4th to 9th grades and offers a variety of nature-based activities. While enjoying lacrosse, students learned about the history of the sport that is rooted in the Native American culture. Basic stick skills were introduced that were then put to use in class competitions. The game was so popular that students asked to play it during their “Rec-Time”  period. Altogether, 38 girls and 40 boys were exposed to lacrosse.

El Ranchito is assisted in camper recruitment by El Buen Samaritano.
