New Horizons Lacrosse is excited to see that LBJ Early College High School has implemented a US Lacrosse First Stick equipment grant. The grant will be used to restart the boys lacrosse program that has been dormant for several years. New Horizons sponsored the grant and is working with school administration and athletic staff to see that this iteration of the program is solidly established while AISD moves forward with a Facility Plan that will move LBJ and the Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA) to separate campuses. LBJ coaches Erica Cray and Ivan Robinson will spearhead the efforts for LBJ.

Coach Cray, who started the Martin Middle School girls lacrosse team while there, is excited, too. “I’m so excited to be the one to restart the boys lacrosse program with my counterparts at my campus. It started with convincing one football coach of the benefits to his players using lacrosse as an off season training tool – his eyes lit up. Once the moms understood how big this is for the community, they were on board and got excited about this new adventure. The kids are already competitive with the soft lacrosse we are featuring in PE. I can only imagine how this spring will look when we get the team into pads with real sticks. Go Jags Go!”
