While getting to the game late (by Syracuse standards), John found lacrosse at age 12, and quickly fell in love with the sport. While earning Academic All-American and All-League awards at Auburn High School, he decided to attend Cornell University and forgo Division I-II-and III college lacrosse opportunities. At Cornell, John played club lacrosse as a 4 year starter and club officer.
As a college student, John spent his summers coaching youth lacrosse in his hometown where he worked with students from ages 6-18 teaching the fundamentals of the game, individual skills, position work, and team strategies. After college, he worked at East Bronx Academy in the Bronx, NY as a middle and high school teacher where he coached both the JV and Varsity basketball teams. In his three years as varsity coach, the Knights won back-to-back championships going 24-1 in two seasons. Since teaching, John has made his way to Austin, Tx where he works as a Global Staffing Lead at Google and enjoys volunteer opportunities in the community.
